According to an Australian study, people with vitamin D deficiency are twice as likely to develop respiratory infections. Doctor Rachel Neale discovered that vitamin D reduces the risk of acute respiratory infections caused by Covid-19. Dr. Neale recommends 5 to 15 minutes of sunlight exposure per day, depending on the weather.
According to the Daily Mail, experts say that exposing our body to just ten minutes of sunlight every day reduces the risk of coronavirus.
Sunlight enables the production of vitamin D, which strengthens the body's immune system. According to experts, people with vitamin D deficiency are twice as likely to develop respiratory infections.
'5 TO 15 MINUTES STAYING IN THE SUN IS ENOUGH'
Dr. Neale recommends getting 5 to 15 minutes of sunlight a day, depending on the weather.
Australian skin cancer researcher Doctor Neale stated that when there is enough vitamin D in the human body, the defense against the virus increases.
“Now is not the time for vitamin D deficiency,” Neale said. Vitamin D has important effects on the immune system. “Accordingly, vitamin D deficiency increases the potential for having symptomatic Covid-19,” he said.
'THOSE WHO CANNOT LEAVE THE HOME CAN TAKE VITAMIN D SUPPLEMENT'
In his research last year, Dr. Neale discovered that vitamin D currently reduces the risk of acute respiratory infections, which is also caused by Covid-19.
In the study involving seventy-eight thousand patients, it was observed that people with low vitamin D levels were almost twice as likely to develop high-level acute respiratory infections.
In addition, people with vitamin D deficiency are likely to have long-term illnesses.
The doctor does not recommend taking vitamin D supplements because he believes that sunlight provides more benefits, but he states that it may be useful for people who cannot leave their homes.
Covid-19 measures in Australia allow people to leave home for exercise. Doctor Neale underlines that they can get vitamin D in a healthy way during this period.
